Why can't I find these in my supermarket anymore?
For example: I used to get the Heinz 1 carb katsup for a buck ... and now, if I go online, I have to pay $3.95 for a bottle!!
Everything that was low-carb focused is disappearing from my grocer's shelves! Getting harder and harder (and more expensive) to live the low-carb lifestyle!!
UGH!

Re: Carb Options / Carb Smart products
Tue, March 27, 2007 - 6:17 AMJust keep reading your labels. I'm finding a lot of previously "Low Carb" marked products are actually low carb normally. Some salad dressings, catsups, and other things like that. Different grocers, different brands...but once you find what your are looking for...voila! -

Tue, March 27, 2007 - 9:37 AMI have been.
What used to take as a 30 minute trip to the market is now an hour and a half because I'm reading labels. Ugh.
Just frustrating.

Re: Carb Options / Carb Smart products
Tue, March 27, 2007 - 8:22 PMI feel this is occuring because of all the people fooling around and playing at an ignorant version of a low carb lifestyle. They don't do it seriously, or do a terribly misguided version of it, fail, quit, then go on a campaign of badmouthing the lifestyle because they think it didn't work for them. The number of people who did that, and are doing that, are legion. However, before they quit, back when they were playing at it, the sheer numbers of them created an artificial market that grew up and then collapsed when the "fad dieters" gave it up.
Sort of like what's happening to the housing market right now.
Just my theory. -

Re: Carb Options / Carb Smart products
Thu, December 27, 2007 - 5:25 PMLow carb products are way too darn expensive...and if I find one I like (there was a line of low-carb dressing in my gorcery store a while back) they don't stick around long. Verry frustrating! -

Re: Carb Options / Carb Smart products
Thu, December 27, 2007 - 9:53 PMagain, *most* regular dressings are already low carb. if its blue cheese or ranch, just make sure not to get low fat, and it will probably be 1 carb or less. I also recommend just putting olive oil and a bit of balsamic on your salad - yums!

Re: Carb Options / Carb Smart products
Fri, January 11, 2008 - 9:40 AMThe first year i was on the Atkins program, it was all before the low carb food craze. Theu did make things easier, but it is very do-able without those products. I stick to the approved food list, lots of lean protein, salads and veggies. The low carb bread, ice cream and dressings can be made at home, I have tried several great versions from some of the recipe websites.
I am recommiting myself to having success this year, and enjoy the challenge of finding hidden low carb foods.
